Wymack walking in on andreil making out I’m cackling

seairis:

this has probably been in my inbox for over a month D: im the worst

  • it only happens three times before wymack, through sheer force of will, just chooses to stop walking in
  • it’s not that he always knows when the two of them are making out it’s that he just one day was like “i’m never walking in on them again” and he hasn’t
  • but the three times he does are a goddamn shit show
  • the first time is during summer practices after baltimore
  • it’s just outside the stadium actually
  • he’s not walking in he’s walking out
  • he thought he was safe and that andrew and neil were still in the changeroom
  • nope
  • they’re out here, leaned against the maserati, andrew’s hands up the back of neil’s shirt, neil’s finger’s twisted deep in andrew’s hair
  • wymack just sighs heavily but he figures, he’s seen worse, he averts his gaze and walks to his car a few spots away from andrew’s car
  • and then neil moans
  • like loud enough for wymack to hear him??? good god these are his children
  • he mumbles “i don’t get paid enough for this” and yells back at them “get that away from me or go get forms for the marathon”
  • neil breaks away to yell “sorry coach” through a smile and wymack thinks he’ll have his peace now but andrew growls and pulls neil back in for another kiss
  • wymack emails neil confirmation that he signed them both up for the marathon before the hour’s over

It’s years down the line, Andreil are on a date

  • It’s not a big deal at this point, they go out to dinner whenever they get a chance, still playing for different teams.
  • They go out for Italian bc it’s Neil’s favorite and/or bc they haven’t had Italian in a long time
  • Andrew gets five cheese ziti and Neil gets a caesar salad bc he’s a nerd
  • They’re enjoying their meal, sharing stories of their respective teams, the Foxes, their lives in general
  • Andrew starts glaring at his plate at one point, stopping what he was saying mid-sentence, “…so I told him -”
  • Neil raises a brow in confusion, asks, “Everything’s ok?”
  • Andrew just gestures to his plate where there is one piece of fusilli instead of the ziti that was supposed to be in his plate
  • Neil scoffs, he reaches a across the table and stabs the offending piece and goes, “I guess you could call it, an – impasta.”
  • He pops it in his mouth and grins at his pun
  • Andrew
  • Andrew snorts in surprise, letting out the smallest laugh, before biting his tongue bc that was…weird
  • Neil is staring in wonder, bc that was at once, the most adorable and the most heartbreaking sound he’d ever heard. Andrew laughed (it was a different laugh, not one laced with mania, all Andrew and none of the drugs, one Neil hadn’t ever heard) at a joke Neil made, but stopped abruptly bc he was so unfamilar with the feeling
  • Neil swallows his bite, smiling gently, prodding Andrew to continue his story about a fan he ran into at a gas station
  • Andrew clears his throat and does
  • But the memory is forever ingrained in both their minds as the first time Andrew truly laughed

hobikenobi:

nicky forces neil to get a new phone and eventually neil makes an instagram and as he starts getting more followers he gets more comfortable with having social media and does 60 second Q&A’s with the team at the fans request

  • the first one he does is with kevin because of popular demand
  • neil does it on the court after night practice with kevin and he reads a few questions that exy fans have commented on his previous posts
  • ‘kevin, what are you a queen of besides exy? no I’ll answer this, the answer is nothing, kevin sucks”
  • “fuck off neil” kevin gets serious and the rest of the video is kevin extensively and aggressively talking about exy until the timer cuts off
  • he does dan next and it’s the cutest 60 second video out there okay dan is sitting next to matt on the couch while neil is filming
  • he asks her how it feels to be “the best female exy captain in the NCAA” dan gets the biggest smile on her face and scrunches up her nose before she answers
  • ‘oh that’s sweet, who wants to know? I like this person. It feels great! but it’s stressful at times, there is a lot of sexism in the world but I usually ignore it in favor of focusing on how lucky I am to have such a great team.”
  • matt’s looking at her while she’s talking and u can literally see the love and admiration in his eyes, fans are crying in the comments about how cute they are, so am I
  • when he does renee, most of the comments are asking about her hair so she explains how she dilutes the bright colors by mixing them with conditioner to make them more pastel
  • “but that’s the easy part, root upkeep is the worst tho, I hate touch ups.”
  • neil vaguely knows what she’s talking about cause he’ll sit in the room when andrew helps her with her hair
  • nicky manages to tell half his life story in 60 seconds
  • neil uploads a second video of nicky giving advice to queer kids afraid to come out because of strict and religious parents or unsafe home lives
  • aaron walks away when neil tries to do his so instead neil uploads a five second video that’s just him zooming in on aaron sitting in a beanbag chair playing video games “aaron’s a dick.”
  • matt gets asked about his boxing background and he beams at the chance to talk about his mom
  • “she’s so badass, she taught me everything I know, she could kick anyone’s ass” he points at the camera “she’ll kick your ass. better watch out”
  • allison gives fashion tips, she also roasts neil for how he dressed when he first joined the team “god u guys should have seen him, fucking awful. nicky and I fixed him up tho, but it took a lot of work cause neil likes to make things difficult”
  • when neil gets to andrew nobody expects him to actually upload anything but when he does the results are hilarious
  • neil sits next to andrew with the camera frontfaced so half of neil’s face is in the frame, andrew is curled up on the couch with a pint of ice cream and his glasses on “it’s time for your interview andrew”
  • andrew just stares at him
  • “why didn’t you sign with the rav- wait that’s a stupid fucking question, we’re not doing that one. alright. how many times have you and aaron been mistaken for one another?”
  • andrew stares at the camera in silence
  • “tragic. next question. how are you so good at blocking goals?
  • silence
  • “incredible. what is your honest opinion about kevin day?”
  • andrew stares for a couple seconds before rolling his eyes and getting up to walk away, neil laughs and nods “I agree”
  • BONUS: andrew has neil’s phone while they’re on the roof, neil is holding his cigarette and andrew starts filming, pointing the camera so you can only see neil
  • “hey junkie, it’s your turn to be interviewed” “alright”
  • “how does it feel to finally have a real home?”
  • neil smiles softly, but he’s looking at andrew not the camera “like I’m finally living, like I’ve got everything I could ever want”
  • there’s a short pause before you can faintly hear “285%” and the video cuts off

palmettomonsters:

Andrew and Neil are up on the roof chain smoking and chain not-smoking, respectively, and not talking.

It’s the middle of the night, like 2am or something equally ridiculous, and they have practice in the morning, but here they are anyway. Whatever.

At this hour it’s gotten kind of cold in the dark, and neither of them brought their jackets, but the chill isn’t enough to scare them off. They’re sitting right up next to each other, shoulders, arms, hips, knees touching, so at least their sides are warm where they’re sharing body heat.

Andrew has torn through his cigarettes far faster than Neil, the result of actively smoking them instead of just waiting for them to peter out. So Neil still has one between his fingers, watching the end smolder and turn to ash, while Andrew is empty handed, watching, well, Neil.

First just watching out of the corner of his eye, tracing the lines of Neil’s fingers as he turns the cigarette over, spreading the smoke. Then his eyes move to Neil’s face, trailing down his neck when Neil tilts his head back to take a deep breath as the breeze blows the smoke towards him.

Andrew is no longer subtle, if he ever really was. He’s staring, transfixed. Has been for a while.

Neil says, “So I’m not allowed to look at you like that, but you can look at me?” He’s still looking straight ahead, out at the sky, how would he know.

“Yes,” Andrew says. And after a pause, “You haven’t told me not to.”

Neil bites back a smile. He’s never going to tell Andrew not to. They both know this.

So Andrew keeps staring, Neil keeps watching his cigarette burn, the embers threatening to go out.

Then Andrew twists and leans towards him, hand going to Neil’s thigh for balance. When Neil notices him move and reach he starts to turn to meet him for a kiss, but he’s a second too late, and that’s not quite what this is.

Neil ends up with his cheek kind of sort of held against Andrew’s as Andrew presses a kiss to the corner of his jaw. It’s quick, a light brush of his lips and then gone, but he doesn’t entirely pull back. Andrew stays close for a few more seconds, head tilted forward, with his forehead and nose pressed to the side of Neil’s face. Eyes closed, smelling the smoke that’s clinging to Neil’s hair, listening to the catch in his breath.

Then Andrew does pull away, looking anywhere but at Neil, and reaches for the pack of cigarettes that’s feeling dangerously empty. He takes two of the remaining four and lights one for himself and one for Neil, who doesn’t even seem aware that the one he’s still holding is nothing but ash, ignored now that the tables have turned back to their rightful place where Neil is the one staring.

Andrew chooses not to comment. He takes a long drag off one of the cigarettes and passes the second to Neil, saying, “Last one,” because it’s too late for this.

Because they need to get to sleep or practice will be hell in the morning. Because they need to get off this goddamn roof. No matter how much time Andrew’s spent up here, no matter how much time he’s spent with Neil, he still hasn’t gotten used to this perceived sensation of falling.

allyasavedtheday:

ok so me and @happyminyards were talking about neil constantly tweeting quotes from andrew but never saying who the quotes were from and how the media/exy fandom would be going crazy trying to figure out who neil’s dating and now i have Thoughts and anyway let’s go:

  • because it has already been established neil and andrew have a lot of profound lines and can be romantic fuckers when they want to be
  • and sometimes neil is so Overcome by the things andrew says to him he needs to yell abt it
  • but he doesn’t really know how to especially bc they’re both quite private people and they haven’t shared their relationship w the media yet
  • so he just tweets a line here and there and it’s almost like an outlet
  • andrew always rolls his eyes or makes a snide comment when he sees the tweets but he never tells neil to stop so neil doesn’t think he minds
  • besides neil is capital G Gone for andrew so he thinks everything andrew says is hilarious/clever/beautiful and he wants the world to know
  • and it’s kind of a subtle/pointed way of reminding the foxes andrew isn’t a monster in the early days
  • anyway
  • so these quotes range from andrew’s commentary when they’re forced to watch one of nicky’s movie choices:
  • “I would rather carve the skin from my body with a rusty spoon than watch ten more minutes of this bullshit”
  • to quiet, inadvertently sweet in their own andrew way, little comments:
  • “of course I’m up here with you, you’re the only mildly tolerable person within a fifty mile radius”
  • one day it’s just “173%”
  • and this keeps happening pretty frequently, usually every couple of days – sometimes twice a day if andrew’s comments are particularly noteworthy
  • (though lbr as far as neil is concerned everything about andrew is noteworthy always)

Andreil: first time they act like a couple (like subtle touches or anything like that) in front of the other Foxes.

butiwannabeyoursuperhero:

I’m so sorry it took me so long to reply but I’m free now so I can answer all the prompts!

  • most of the time, neil and andrew are just content with stading next to each other. they leave the heavy make out sessions for one when they’re alone
  • but this one time, after a particularly difficult game, which they lost, the nine of them are reunited in one of their rooms, trying to confort each other. they all sort of think it’s their fault
  • it’s the first time they lose a game since neil made that deal with ichirou, so he’s extra stressed about it because for the first time in his entire life he wants to live (all those years on the run he was merely surviving, which wasn’t really living if he compared it to his life now)
  • so neil’s sitting on the couch and andrew sits down next to him. neil asks ‘yes or no?’ under his breath and andrew answers ‘yes’ expecting a kiss, but all neil does is place his head on andrew’s shoulder, one arm around andrew’s shoulder so he can play with andrew’s hair.
  • andrew sighs and grabs neil’s other hand in his and starts whispering in his ear every fucking thing he’s going to do to ichirou if he dares touch him (so romantic andrew, so fucking romantic)
  • now, andrew tries to stay awake when he’s so close to neil because he’s afraid of hurting him if he wakes up feeling someone touch him, but it was such a rough game and he’s so fucking tired he ends up falling asleep like that, one hand in neil’s, nei’ls other hand tangled in his hair, neil snoring on his shoulder.
  • all the foxes are in their own bubble of selfhatred until they hear nicky whispering under his breath an awed ‘holy fucking shit’. they turn to nicky to see him staring wide eyed at andreil. the only thing wider than his eyes is his grin.
  • the reactions reactions are varied:
    • nicky has to cover his mouth to stop himself from screaming.
    • matt is taking pitures from every angle he can get.
    • renee smiles, content.
    • allison smiles because she knew all along that they weren’t in it just for sex (because come on, she was in love with seth gordon guys).
    • dan is just in awe that someone found a gentle side of andrew (she’s in awe that there even is a gentle side to andrew)
    • aaron pretends to be absolutely disgusted, but he’s sort of happy for andrew.
  • after the initial shock passes, dan, matt and nicky pay a small fortune to allison and aaron, the only ones who bet that neil and andrew were in a real relationship, not just in for the sex and angry make out sessions.
  • renee never bet on them because she guessed it was a little rude.
  • aaron never admits to andrew that he always knew how serious he was about neil.
  • andrew knows anyway. he doesn’t know if he appreciates it or not.

cigarettesmokeandexyracquets:

@lovelifelovebooks asked: Andreil + 20 please and thank you! You’re awesome!

20. “Don’t ask me that.”

After Neil’s story had been told to the FBI in front of Andrew, Neil was sure their secrets game was over. All his secrets had been pulled from him, laid bare on a cold metal table for everyone to see. He had nothing left to trade, so the game must be over. But Andrew has always made a habit of surprising Neil.

“I’m taking a turn,” Andrew said, flicking cigarette ash off the rooftop onto the street below. His head was turned to the side, moon lighting up his angular features in a way Neil had learned to appreciate.

“Okay,” Neil said slowly. He brought a hand up to his mouth and bit at the skin around his thumb in a nervous habit he’d picked up. One of Andrew’s habits.

“What did Riko do to you at Evermore?”

nickyhenmick:

anonymous asked: So in Nora’s extra content she says andreil go on dates to resteraunts/walks on the beach etc, could you maybe right about their first real date?

  • okay so the first “date” of theirs is while they’re still at palmetto
  • the food at the dining hall was going to be shit that night and everyone was getting on neil’s nerves and he was gonna lose it if they stayed there so andrew just looked at him and was like “we’re leaving”
  • neil immediately agrees and texts kevin that they won’t be at night practice
    • cue “what the fuck neil” text that prompts neil to turn his phone off
  • they get into the maserati and andrew just drives for a couple hours, headed southeast
  • the drive alone is enough to relax neil, but then they get into charleston and neil starts to get curious (and a lil excited) about what andrew is planning
  • they left as soon as they were done with class in the afternoon and there wasn’t much traffic, but the drive was almost three and a half hours, so neil is hungry enough to eat dinner
  • andrew just glances over at him and maneuvers through the city, eventually turning right onto a street with a bunch of restaurants and saying “pick one”
  • neil, after all his years on the run, is really really good at knowing instinctively which restaurants are going to be good but not too expensive, so he scans the road before naming one
  • the place isn’t anything special, it doesn’t stand out among any other american diners, but neil was right and the food is really good
  • they chat about a little bit of everything: of all the cities neil had been with his mother, charleston was never one of them, so he rambles off some observations about the buildings and the grid of the city that he didn’t realize he had noticed on the drive in
  • andrew is amused enough to pay attention, and in exchange he recounts a story from high school where nicky dragged him and aaron to charleston for the weekend to try to bond but it didn’t exactly go well
  • they finish eating but neither of them want to leave yet so they end up wandering the streets
  • they end up walking on a sidewalk parallel to the beach, and the smell of the salt water surprisingly doesn’t remind neil of his mother, at least, not in a bad way
  • “have you ever been to the beach? for fun?” neil asks
  • andrew considers the question as he smokes. “a couple times. cass took me for a day trip once.”
  • that was more than neil was expecting to get, and he smiles as he looks out over the waves
  • “i think the last time i went for fun was when i was a kid. maybe 4 or 5 years old? my mom somehow managed to convince my dad that she could take me. i think he sent some security with us, but still.”
  • “sounds better than the last time you two were at the beach together,” andrew says, partially bc he’s a dick but also because he can tell neil was already thinking about it
  • neil nods but doesn’t say anything, but the next time there’s a walkway leading down to the sand he turns to take it, stepping out of his shoes to carry them in his hands
  • behind him he can hear andrew sigh loudly in protest but he follows him down the wooden planks, stopping to remove his shoes as well
  • they walk up and down the beach, kicking at the sand and occasionally stepping into the waves washing against the shore (and taking breaks to make out since somehow they’re the only people on the beach)
  • it’s all very cute and gay
  • eventually the sun has set and both of them are tired enough to know they should leave now if they want to make it back to campus
  • andrew gets them back to the car much faster than neil could, and neil low key falls asleep in the passenger seat on the drive home
  • he wakes up when andrew pulls into the parking lot of fox tower, and yawns as he walks inside with andrew
  • neil asks for permission when they walk through the door to the building, and andrew raises his eyebrows before nodding and neil just takes his hand and holds it as the elevator door opens to take them to the third floor
  • andrew rolls his eyes but doesn’t let neil’s hand go
  • they share a bed that night bc neil can’t be bothered to climb into his loft
  • none of the foxes know where they went, and none of them ever find out, and neil and andrew like it that way. they like that this is their own thing and start doing it more and more frequently, just going to different cities and exploring them for the first time, together

OKAY YOU KNOW WHEN ANDREW SAYS IN TKM “what are you hoping for coordinates?” AND NEIL RESPONDS “I’m willing to draw a map on you” CAN YOU WRITE ABOUT A TIME WHERE THAT HAPPENS AND HOW IT KINDA CALMS ANDREW BECAUSE HE KNOWS THAT THIS PERFECT KID WONT GO OUTSIDE THE LINES (FOR EXTRA FLUFF TO LIKE COMPESTATE FOR THE INEVITABLE ANGST YOU COULD INCLUDE THE FOXES SEEING THE MARKER LINES AND NEILS HAND WRITING SAYING “here is encouraged” “here not so much” and them just crying bc these two kiLL THEM)

quexnk:

why you slay me like this

neil had learned that it was okay to want. he had learned that he could survive based solely on need, but to live for something was to want.

neil wanted exy. he wanted the foxes. he wanted a home. he wanted andrew. it was four things more than his mother taught him to live with, and four things that were dangerous. it was dangerous to live in a sport that the moriyamas dominated. it was dangerous to have a family. it was dangerous to be comfortable somewhere. and most of all, it was dangerous to love.

those were, of course, the large wants. at first, neil only knew the large wants; he didn’t quite understand that you didn’t always have to put your heart on the line.

neil was doodling in his notebook’s margins haphazardly, varying from paw prints to cartoon images of the foxes.

andrew was sitting next to him and neil was prepared for the other man to scold him for not looking at his notes when andrew opened his mouth, but got instead, “why don’t you get a sketch book or something?”

he hadn’t considered pursuing something that was, formerly, a waste of time. he had time now, time to sit in the afternoons and sketch.

neil said nothing and continued his sketching. regardless of neil’s reaction to andrew’s comment, andrew threw a new sketchbook on to neil’s lap the next day.

neil liked the slight rebellious thrill that went through his veins every time he picked up the sketch book. this was still forbidden. this was taking the time to participate in something that had nothing to do with running. every time he did something like this, it felt like rooting himself a little farther into the ground.

one afternoon, andrew laid neil back on the carpet and followed him down to meet their lips. neil had, only moments before, been sketching with the first available utensil–a sharpie. It made so he had a piece of paper between the sheet he worked on and the next page to avoid bleeding.

now the sharpie sat awkwardly between fingers as his hands carded themselves in andrew’s hair.

neil’s hands eventually made their way down andrew’s torso until they tugged on the ends of andrew’s shirt in silent question. andrew’s hands broke from neil’s body to comply to the request and neil took the new skin in with searching fingers.

andrew made an annoyed sound and broke their kiss. “are you ever going to drop that marker? or is it that you plan to do something with it?”

neil hadn’t considered it before, but neither had he considered dropping it. andrew’s last sentence, however, had his mind set upon something else.

“mmm. maybe i do,” neil replied before leaning in to andrew’s neck, pressing a kiss that andrew both leaned into and pulled away from. “but we have to go to the bed for it. more comfortable,” neil finished.

andrew considered it a moment before deciding it was at least worth it to see what neil had in mind.

andrew stood by the foot of the bed waiting for neil to tell him what to do, which was enough to assure neil that this was a good idea, as andrew rarely gave in to other people’s askance.

“lay down, either side,” neil said as he uncapped the marker. andrew laid on his back, likely so he could see what neil would do.

neil was slow in his movements, putting his legs on either side of andrew’s. he let an arm lean on the bed beside andrew’s head as he leaned in for a kiss. neil kept it rather short before moving to press his lips to the hollow that was created by andrew’s collarbones. when andrew sighed deeply, neil lifted and replaced his lips with the marker’s tip and wrote kiss here.

andrew raised an eyebrow in question, but did not stop neil. neil still answered andrew’s wonder. “i told you once i was willing to draw a map.”

“fucking junkie.”

this caused neil’s marker to stray to andrew’s heart, where he wrote warning: contents addictive. he let the ink dry a moment before pressing a kiss to the writing and pausing there. when he lifted andrew was staring down at him, not mad but making his face like he was.

neil continued on his mission, putting a if offguard, here on andrew’s neck, a here is encouraged across the right side of andrew’s ribs, here, not so much just beneath them because it was ticklish spot that andrew refused to admit to.

when neil was content with his work, after andrew had flipped onto his stomach and neil went to work there as well, they texted kevin that he could come back to the dorm and spent the rest of the night playing video games.

the next day was practice, which meant getting up at what kevin considered to be an ungodly hour to get to the court on time.

nicky and allison stipulated why andrew didn’t change out with the rest of them and instead went to the stalls. why he didn’t come out with just underclothes, but full gear, neck guard included. they landed on neil putting an undignified amount of hickey’s on andrew’s person.

neil’s only reaction to andrew’s move was a slight grin, which only fueled nicky and allison’s now bet.

andrew was careful though, so all practice nicky and allison did not get their answer.

afterwards, wymack called them to sit down for a team meeting. andrew sat in his normal spot between neil and kevin, closer to neil than kevin.

at one point andrew held out a hand and neil put a phone in it. this was andrew’s mistake, in thinking that nicky was not still watching him.

nicky broke the conversations in the room by saying, “what’s on your hand, andrew?”

neil watched andrew clutch the phone a little harder as he said, “a phone.”

“on, not in,” nicky quipped.

andrew ignored the comment, choosing to wait for wymack to start the meeting. nicky let it go, favoring too to wait, until andrew was once again not expecting it.

the answer to the bet was answered, however, not in what laid on andrew’s hand, but in andrew tying his shoes.

andrew stopped outside the door to the lounge, bending over to tie his shoe. allison had stopped to investigate, to see if she could see the palm of andrew’s hand, but found something more interesting.

she saw instead the small of andrew’s back where his turtle neck had ridden up. neil had placed another here is encouraged between the dimples of andrew’s back.

when andrew finished tying his shoe, he prepared to stare allison into leaving. he found that she was already taking an exasperated breath and turning around, causing andrew to look to neil for answer.

“your back,” neil supplied. after all, there wasn’t much neil could have done aside from blatantly pulling andrew’s shirt down, which would have drawn more attention.

andrew hadn’t wanted the foxes to know what was written across his skin, but there was no taking back what was seen. he instead matched his palm with neil’s where his said hold here and intertwined their fingers.
