i wasnt gonna reply to this bc it’s going to start some drama i know it,, but this whole thing really bugged me….
I wished you Aaron fans knew that you’re defending a 20 y/o person, he’s not a kid that you can be ike “ahhh but he’s 16 he’s a teen and he has a lot to learn!! he lived with an abusive mother!! ” he’s a fucking Adult.
Look, I’m fucking 20 years old and i know exactly how to take care of my actions & words and how much it affects others. i’m pretty sure MOST OF YOU are almost 20/over 20. I’ve been through the same shit Aaron has been and it doesn’t excuse a goddamn thing?? Not because you were raised by shitty people it means you have to become one, and if you become one, that’s just you.
If i’m shitty i take care of it, and i apologize. No one has to put up with my shit or forgive my awful behaviour just because i had a rough childhood, is not their fault, and i wished you people understood that instead of making dumb excuses for Aaron.
He is an interesting character to analyze and criticize, and his relationship with Andrew is something I’d love to make a whole comic about, but you all Need To Stop and use ur heads a little bit. I’m not saying you SHOULDN’T like Aaron, just accept him with his flaws, just as most of us do with Andrew, because he has a lot of flaws too, being kinda misogynistic for starters, we know where it comes from, but we don’t excuse it (but if you do, use ur head too pls)
PS. since you say he gets uncomfortable with “sexual conversations” explain to me why he never blinked an eye with either Allison and Seth, or Matt and Dan, but wasn’t afraid of expressing his disgust towards Nicky, Andrew or Neil? Oh Yeah….
sorry to jump into this (i can delete it if you ask) but as a gay guy, this explanation is spot-on and aymmi is right. whenever people say aaron isn’t homophobic, i get really uncomfortable because like,,,, he is. you can like him as a character, he’s interesting, but he has flaws just like anyone else and he IS homophobic. and most of the people saying he isn’t either aren’t lgbt at all or they aren’t mlm, and you really can’t have a say in whether his actions are or aren’t homophobic. also, he wasn’t the one who called seth out for saying the f slur. andrew did that. aaron just said “don’t talk to us at all” which is pretty dismissive. all the characters have flaws, and you’re allowed to like them anyway, but don’t say that those flaws are nonexistent. even though aaron wasn’t militant in his homophobia, saying he’s not homophobic really erases the experiences of mlm who face casual homophobia daily. saying he’s ace doesn’t erase how shitty he is. and yeah allison may have condoned seth’s actions but did you forget about how aaron called neil the other f slur, insinuated disgusting things, and didn’t apologize for it? double standards, much?
