The Foxhole Court: A bad book for our boy. He only smiles three times, and one is “humorless” and the others are fake. Understandable, but still a goddamn tragedy. 1/10 because at least it’s something.
The Raven King: Still bad. He only smiles five times. Once because he is tired, once because Wymack is worried about him, and the other three are fake as fuck and Riko-related. Bonus points because Matt almost made him smile. 3/10
The King’s Men: A beautiful and successful book for Neil. He smiles a total of eleven times and he has never been happier. Shoutout to Andrew for being involved with most of them. Neil has stopped being fake and started letting himself be happy and we are blessed. 10/10

can i take a moment to say how much i appreciate the fact that neil josten is canonically demisexual? i love that sakavic took the pains in affirming that yes, neil is in a relationship with a guy, but it doesn’t automatically make him gay. (remember how neil asserts that he does not swing, and just because he likes andrew, does not mean he swings). idk, i just wanted to point this out since i just. i sometimes cringe when ppl make posts about how “lol neil is SO gay just look at how thirsty he is for andrew”. i mean, i know that ppl are just having fun with it and mean no harm but idk, i just get tired of having ace-spec ppl get erased. we already get little to no representation as it is so
