Why did Andrew tell Neil he’d blow him?

I mean, obviously, I know why. It’s not exactly subtext, the meaning is blatant.

The more accurate question that’s been on my mind is: Why did Andrew tell Neil he’d blow him at all?

Well, Neil asked Andrew why Roland thought he’d been handcuffing Neil, but even then, Andrew didn’t have to confess that engaging in physical acts with Neil was something he had genuinely considered. He could have just said: “Roland thinks we’re a thing.”

This is most likely not a new perspective on this, but I only read this series in April of this year, so, please forgive me:

Andrew’s had a brewing crush on Neil for a while at this point. He’s just been released from rehab. He’s off his meds for good. Neil came back from Evermore beaten black and blue with a Moriyama branding on his face because he didn’t want Andrew to be hurt any more. Neil’s still here. Neil is feeling more and more like a person than a pipedream by the second.

And now Neil’s just asked him to his face why Roland is jumping to conclusions about their private lives.

Maybe Andrew carefully decided to say it, maybe it slipped out in the heat of the moment. Either way, Andrew took one look at the edge, and stepped off, because he wanted to see if this junkie would catch him.

“It’s only
two hours,” Neil says.

If looks
could kill, he probably would collapse on the floor right here and then. Aaron
only stops glaring daggers at him to bury his head back in the toilet seat.

“Why is he
even here,” he asks after dry-heaving for a minute. “Go away.”

Neil rolls
his eyes so far back that Andrew can see the whites. He pushes at Neil’s arm
gently in direction of the door: Neil is Neil, and Andrew trusts him, but this
isn’t the kind of situation he’s helpful in.

“I’m just
saying,” Neil says, “you’ve played full Exy games through worse—”

“You’re
starting to sound like Kevin,” Andrew tells him.

“Sometimes
he’s right.”

Something
hits the wall a good foot left of Neil’s head and Andrew turns back to his
brother’s prostrate body.  

“Leave,”
Aaron all but growls.

“I hope you
throw up on yourself,” Neil snaps, but he steps outside.

After a life on the run, working and living through life-threatening injuries, Neil never imagined that small acts could cause him so much pain. But simply trying to twist the cap off of his water bottle has him crying out and cradling his hands to his chest. 

“What did I tell you,” Andrew asks, seemingly uninterested.

Neil grits his teeth around the pain. He knows what Andrew said.
