Hello! I love your blog so much, especially your TFC headcanons and fics! I was wondering if you would ever consider writing some kind of sequel to the headcanon about the Foxes’ bets expanding on Andreil’s wedding in Neil’s senior year? Of course you don’t have to if you don’t want to, but it would make my life :) Have a good day!

cigarettesmokeandexyracquets:

  • This is how it goes.
  • Andrew was tired of fighting with security and hospital staff every time Neil managed to land himself a trip to the ER.
  • He was sick of Allison Reynolds telling him “We care about Neil too you know” every time security managed to get him back to the waiting room.
  • He hated the knowing look on his cousin’s face and the sneer on his brother’s.
  • Most of all he hated not knowing and he hated that Neil would wake up in that room alone and panic.
  • It didn’t happen often, but it happened enough that Andrew was tired of it.
  • So when Neil ends up in the hospital with a concussion during his senior year, Andrew makes the drive to South Carolina and makes a decision.
  • This particular hospital remembers Andrew from two years before when he took down two security team members the day Neil had emergency surgery for his appendix and Neil’s nurse has enough self preservation to pretend to not see him sneak into Neil’s room.
  • Neil’s first words when he wakes up and sees Andrew are “what the fuck happened?”
  • Because head injuries make it hard to have a serious discussion Andrew has to wait until Neil’s mostly coherent, it takes a couple of days.
  • When Andrew checks Neil out of the hospital and muscles him into the Maserati to take him back to Fox Tower Neil turns to him and says “We should just get married.”
  • Neil is only slightly surprised when Andrew says, “I know.”
  • Two weeks later they’re signing their marriage licence with Betsy Dobson as their witness.
  • It’s simple because it’s just a legal thing. They get married in a courthouse, both wearing jeans and Neil wearing Andrew’s pro team jersey. Betsy dresses up for it because she wants to and this is important to her. This boy that she cared about, that she was worried wasn’t going to make it to graduation, getting married.
  • Neil doesn’t tell the team because he doesn’t feel he has to. Nothing has changed, really, now Andrew and Neil just have more legal rights than they did before. The ring he wears on a string around his neck is mostly for his own sentiment. The fact that Andrew has one too would only be baffling to someone other than Neil or Renee.
  • The next time Neil end up in the hospital it’s for two broken ribs and Andrew pretends not to be affected when the doctor asks, “Are you the husband?” and Andrew gets to say “yes”

goD like im so fucked up over the idea of andrew and neil giving each other forehead kisses like

  • neil starts it b/c three inches taller is the perfect height to kiss andrew’s forehead
  • it starts as just another thing neil does during their iconic makeout sessions
  • (or like, you know)
  • (when they’re done)
  • but then neil starts doing it other times and andrew is just like ?????
  • neil will give him a forehead kiss before leaving for class in the morning
  • or right before bed
  • andrew pretends that he thinks it’s the most annoying thing ever, but he really really secretly loves it and how it slowly just becomes neil’s go-to form of affection
  • it takes a while for any of the other foxes to notice since it’s a pretty intimate gesture, so there aren’t really that many occasions for them to see it
  • months after it started, they finally see it when neil goes to ask andrew something during a scrimmage and before he turns to leave he just kisses andrew’s helmet (!!!!!!)
  • allison makes an unbelievable amount of money
  • they all think that they will never see andrew return the gesture in a million years
  • but one day after a game the press is super nasty to neil and pull up way too much shit from his past
  • he holds it together until he gets back to the locker room but then he can’t breathe and the room is spinning
  • and andrew just shoves him up against the wall to keep neil from collapsing, with one hand on his neck and the other flat against neil’s heart
  • “neil, stop. fucking listen to me, you’re fine, you’re safe here, it’s okay”
  • neil does calm down after a minute and just looks exhausted and worn out as he refuses to make eye contact with anyone but andrew
  • everyone thinks andrew is going to step away now that neil is fine but he doesn’t
  • he presses himself up on his tiptoes
  • and grabs neil’s face between his hands to pull it down a little
  • and kisses his forehead

Prompt: The foxes being shocked when Andrew shows affection towards Neil. Thank you, you’re incredible!

they don’t show affection in huge, monumental ways. we know this. it’s the little things. and slowly they begin happening in front of the foxes, who do not know how to react. at all.

  • aaron, kevin, and nicky all playing video games for a couple hrs one afternoon and andrew is reading while neil works on a paper.
  • the hours start ticking by and the guys don’t realize it, they grab Gatorade’s and some pretzels eventually and continue gaming
  • even andrew got up for a glass of water
  • eventually after another half an hr passes andrew goes and whispers something in neils ear, and he sighs and gets up and goes into the kitchen and grabs an apple and some juice and chats w/ andrew for five mins or so and then goes back to his paper
  • andrew goes back to his spot to read again
  • the guys just all kinda eyeball emoji
  • they hadn’t realized neil was so wrapped up in his work he forgot he was a human being who needed a break and sustenance
  • or maybe, they are having another mandatory team movie night
  • and andrew claims a spot on the couch, which is desired since there are 9 of them and most end up on the ground
  • but neil just sits at Andrew’s feet, and Andrew’s hand immediately just falls into his hair and starts running his fingers through it
  • neil knows he does this to like calm himself down esp when there are a lot of ppl around even if its just the team
  • but everyone notices and shoots glances at each other like “u seeing this” and nicky gets a video of it def
  • renee shushes them tho and puts the movie on and sits beside andrew and smiles at him bc she’s so happy he’s happy and he just blankly stares at her and goes back to playing w neil’s hair
  • or, maybe, after a game that is particularly tense and hard-won neil gets back to the dressing room and feels like he cant breathe
  • his arms ache, he fucking wore them out, he shot on the net over 70 times the game (kevin shot around 60, even he was feeling the pain and ache in his hands too)
  • neil just collapses on one of the benches and none of the other team members would have noticed he was as dead on his feet if andrew hadn’t started ripping off Neil’s equipment
  • eventually he get’s to his face, pulling the headband off and the neck guard and helmet took too fucking long
  • neil was taking laboured breaths
  • andrew accepts a cup of gatorade pressed into his hand by abby (he thinks)
  • and neil drinks it from the cup still in andrew’s hand, he didnt trust neil to hold it with how hard they were trembling
  • and he just presses his forehead to neil’s, right there in the middle of the changeroom, and starts whispering about what a fucking asshole he is and how he better not do that again or he will kill him himself
  • after a couple minutes neil’s breathing is back to normal, and andrew pulls back. neil walks wordlessly into abby’s office at her insistance, and andrew begins to get undressed for showers
  • the rest of the foxes didnt even pretend they weren’t shocked at the scene and were literally standing there like statues and it isn’t until kevin slowly undoes his helmet that they all start moving again
  • they all discuss it in detail in the group chat they have w out neil and andrew in it on the bus ride home tho u just kno it

This is 100% what I am here for. A++ would headcanon again.

Need more of this, foxes reacting to andreil is the best

Andrew on a professional exy team and all of the team have fairly gotten used to him, but still keep their distance because Jesus fuck, this guy isn’t kidding around with his threats, more than one of them have been on the receiving end of his knives. Then Neil joins the team, and he reels Andrew in, he calms him down and isn’t that just like seeing a pig fly?

seairis:

this might have derailed a bit yikes

  • for the first few months of practices andrew was just eerily apathetic. he’d block the goal, mostly, and run drills, (still better than most but obviously without any serious effort,_ but he never said anything, he never seemed to even break a sweat, and he was out of the change room almost before anyone noticed he was in there
  • its sort of unsettling like he has a presence on the team but barely
  • and then
  • its mid game, some motherfucker from the other teams taunting andrew making gross homophobic comments at him
  • andrew doesn’t react once
  • even his teammates, who don’t know or care for him really, are getting pissed off at this guy
  • there’s like 4 seconds left in the game this guy really needs to get a rise out of andrew so that his team can make a goal to tie the game, because they’re losing
  • he says ‘bet he looks so good bent over, eh?’ (because after aaron’s trial everyone knows about drake my poor son)
  • he plays it off like it’s directed at a teammate not at Andrew
  • 2 seconds. Andrew blocks the last pass they make, hits it so far up court no one could bring it back and lunges at this guy
  • he’s got him down on the ground with a knife pressed under his helmet to the bottom of his jaw
  • the buzzer rings
  • andrew has to be torn away from this guy, who’s nearing a coma at this point
  • andrew turns on one of his teammates, the one who’d pulled him off and wraps a hand around his neck, making sure he feels the knife in his armband
  • “don’t put a leash on me”
  • the rest of the team backs off immediately, and he lets him go
  • by the time that’s done the other teams left the court completely and he can’t murder that guy like he wanted to
  • next practice is tense, his whole team is afraid of him
  • one of them mutters something like ‘fucking psycho’ and andrew aims a rebound at him so hard he gets knocked over, winded
  • he pretends like he didn’t even know he was there
  • there are five more knife situations, and over a dozen other physical altercations, both on and off the court by the time neil going the team two months later
  • and then: Neil

andrews-nothing:

BOI let’s talk about Neil “rabbit” Josten and Andrew “never lets his guard down” Minyard and how they inexplicably forget the rest of the world is a thing when they’re together???? Like

  • everyone knows better than to interrupt their intense eye contact. They’ll stare at each other for minutes at a time and matt’s just standing there off to the side, waiting for their bizarre silent convo to wind down. Neil’s the first to look away.
    • “Oh, how long have you been there, matt?“
    • “Just a few seconds don’t worry"
  • even when they’re not staring at each other, they’re both completely useless if one is looking. Neil focuses his entire attention on Andrew when the sun hits him just right and Kevin sighs and closes the notebook of exy plays they’d been discussing. Andrew is not-watching Neil staring at him, Neil is probably mentally composing a sonnet about Andrew’s shoulders or arms or pinky finger, and Kevin starts talking about Quebec, potato salad, and cello music because anything he says Neil will never be able to remember
  • they’re not much for PDA but also when the locker room is empty after a game, they might (always) make out against the lockers and sometimes they don’t remember that one freshman who was getting dressed in the showers and he squeaks in surprise when he walks in on them but they’re too wrapped up in each other to notice (or care)
  • dan is sure she could blow an air horn next to their ears, but if they’re sharing a cigarette, they wouldn’t even flinch. Nearly every day after practice while they wait for Kevin to finish up, Neil and Andrew share a cigarette in the shade provided by the court’s walls. They stand not quite close enough to touch but the space between them is almost nonexistent, and take turns smoking while gazing meaningfully at each other. Or Andrew will smoke and Neil will steal his cigarette and he’ll steal it back and on and on until the thing is burned down to the filter.
    • Nicky swears he caught them shotgunning smoke but his phone was "dead” at the time and without visual evidence he couldn’t cash in the prize money.
    •  He’s still bitter about it.
  • one time they halted an entire game for a full minute because some asswipe had growled “Wesninski” at Neil and Neil got tripped up and twisted his ankle.
    • the combination of panic from hearing his old name and panic about not being able to play kept him on the court floor and Andrew was at his side in an instant. He ignored the rest of the players, the refs, and Coach in favor of kneeling on the ground and pressing his forehead to Neil’s. They whispered to each other for a full half a minute before the panic left Neil’s eyes and Andrew was content to sit back.
    • Neil at least had the decency to look sheepish when he saw the dozen people crowded around them, staring at him with varying amounts of confusion and annoyance.
    • Andrew did not.

SEVEN STEPS TO FALLING IN LOVE // l.s.

step 1. you don’t quite remember how it feels to feel but theres an echo in your chest that you think might be curiosity. or maybe its just heartburn.

step 2. theres something different about the way that he moves, like the earth is a chessboard and every step is a potential loss, another way to be taken from the game.

step 3. you promise protection because it is all you can offer. what else could he want? your fingers were only made to hurt and tear and bruise. you hold violence the same way others hold hands.

step 4. the first time you see him without medication twisting your brain you think ‘this could be a problem.’ you try to ignore that it already is, that is has been for a while now.

step 5. he vanishes into the night and with him he takes your ability to breathe, leaving a gap in the universe, a vacuum sucking the air from your lungs and for the first time in forever you feel fear.

step 6. every bruise on his body is another reason to walk away but you passed the point where you could leave long ago. now your hands try to learn how to hold and to stroke, how to soothe burns and bruises. They re-learn how to be hands instead of just another weapon to wield against life.

step 7. you told yourself that love was a lie because there was no other way to survive your demons. you put everything you had left behind a door made of sulphur and steel, but this boy, who saw more than the monster they created, who would fight the sun if you’d let him, opened your heart by knocking instead of forcing the lock.

(and so you gave him a key)
