hot take: neil and andrew say they love each other. it goes like this: 

it takes neil a while to realize he’s in love with andrew. he always knew he cared for him, deeply, but he’d never really loved or been loved by anyone so he wasn’t able to recognize it when he fell for andrew.

but then one of the foxes makes a comment that ends in “you guys are so in love :-)” or something like that, and at first neil scoffs, and andrew’s silent, because?? in love?? haha. yeah right. but then neil thinks about it. like, really thinks about it, and later that night it clicks that. yeah. he’s in love with andrew, of course he is. 

and he has to tell him, because he’s never been good at keeping his mouth shut, even if he thinks andrew’s not gonna reciprocate. so up on the roof that night he admits he loves andrew, not expecting a response, but andrew tells him “i assumed it went without saying, but apparently you need everything spelled out for you. i love you.”

Okay like the thought of Andrew and Neil being in a long distance relationship is absolutely wild to me. Like that’s the kind of thing that proves their love for each other. Long distance is hard and it’s requires a lot of communication and dedication to work. And to think that Neil and Andrew absolutely pulled it off, using every opportunity to see each other, Andrew literally flying over to see Neil (I am assuming since road tripping would take too much time out of their busy schedules), them video calling each other can you imagine, like them actually talking to each other about how their days went and about how they miss each other’s stupid face

And then Neil transferring to Andrew’s team and they have waited so long for this and it’s finally happening and they are so happy

Andrew literally went from being passively suicidal and only living to keep promises to being so in love with Neil, having a career, being a parent of two cats, having a network of friends and family and working hard to make his life work.

that’s like love man and it’s beautiful

L . I . S . T . E . N . I was wheezing when I thought of this. I literally said it to myself for an entire day, laughing every single time at how horrible it is. Naturally, I had to paint it. Is this what I should have been doing? No. But is it something I needed to do? absolutely.
